Interview Process and Timeline ⏳
Recruiter Screen (30 minutes)
The recruiter screen for the Amazon Product Manager interview process will be similar to any other round at other FAANG+ companies. This 30-minute call will assess your cultural fit for the organization and your ability to succeed in the role. The recruiter will also provide you with an overview of the interview process.
If you have questions about the role or interview process, this would be the right time to ask them. Many FAANG+ companies also provide candidates with a lot of interview support and prep material to set them up for success. If your Amazon Recruiter hasn’t mentioned anything about this to you already, you can check with them about that on this call.
In terms of interview preparation, your main goal for this screen should be to leave a positive impression on the recruiter and demonstrate indirectly through your conversations how you understand the role, company culture, and Amazon Leadership Principles (LPs) well.
Manager/Team Screen (45 minutes)
The Manager/Team Screen will be a 45-minute video call with your manager or fellow Amazon Product Managers. In this round, you will mainly be assessed for your domain expertise, technical capabilities, and understanding of the Amazon LPs.
Although Amazon PM interviews are technically complex, one topic that you will be repeatedly tested on will be the Amazon Leadership Principles. If you encounter PM-role-specific behavioral questions, avoid answering them as technical questions. Instead, try and demonstrate one of the LPs through the answer to show that you understand how the company works.
Onsite Interviews (4–6 rounds, 45 minutes each)
Depending on where you are currently located, these interviews could be onsite for you (where you’ll spend a day at one of the Amazon offices and interview with managers, team members, and product managers from the company back-to-back) or virtually, if the COVID-19 restrictions in your region haven’t eased yet.
The onsite interviews will be more or less similar to the manager screen. However, there will be a little more emphasis on your technical expertise and product management skills through the different rounds. During these interviews, you may also have a bar raiser present (Bar Raisers at Amazon are interviewers who may/may not belong to your team but assess you for the cultural fit within the company).

How To Prepare For The Amazon Product Manager Interview? ⚡️
Amazon interview rounds are challenging — both technically and behaviorally. Here are a few tips to ace your interviews:
- Be very well-versed with the Amazon Leadership Principles. Candidates are tested on their knowledge of these principles in every hiring process step. Keep at least two or three events from past experiences in mind to talk about for each of the leadership principles.
- Using the STAR method is the best way to answer Amazon interview questions. Lay the foundation for your answer by describing the situation and task, followed by the actions you took and the results they yielded.
- Amazon interviews can be technically heavy. Especially for PM roles, you might come across questions that you may not necessarily be able to finish solving within the given time. In such a case, the interviewers mainly assess your approach to arriving at the answer and your thought process. Make sure your share your thoughts with them as you answer the questions.
- Keep the customer at the center of all your solutions. Amazon is a customer-centric company. This means meeting the needs of its customers is the top priority.
